Brightside

Synopsis

Set in the junkyard of a commune in Victoria, Brightside examines the effects of a place, its smells, sounds, and people, through a series of five vignettes.

Monday is Jim's day to spread his seed. He gathers all the women of Brightside into the shed, plays the film Gilda on repeat, and doesn't let them leave. But they want out. Cars won't start, babies won't come, and the trees keep growing. As the incessant sound of Van Morrison music drives them to make a decision, who will leave the commune by the time the moon's full and who will go back to the shed?

Brightside debuted on the 11th of September 2007.

Recipient of the Union House Theatre Professional development award recipient for direction (Stephen Nicolazzo) and writing (Dan Giovannoni).
